Thyroid Ultrasound Scan
What conditions can be detected with a Thyroid ultrasound scan?
Thyroid ultrasound is usually performed to assess an existing lump or enlargement of the thyroid gland. The ultrasound scan can establish whether the lump is within the gland or outside the gland. It can also establish whether the lump is a cyst or a soft tissue nodule. Cysts are usually benign i.e. not cancerous.
